Candlemas is a Christian religious festival that commemorates the presentation of Christ in the Temple. It is celebrated annually on February 2, exactly 40 days after Christmas. Candlemas is traditionally regarded as the final celebration of the Nativity cycle, following Christmas, the Feast of the Holy Innocents, and the Epiphany.
Each Christian feast carries its own customs, and the Chandeleur (French word for Candlemas) is famously associated with the tradition of eating crêpes, symbolizing the sun and the return of longer days.
